Reconciliation, Temple, EQ activity

Brethren

I hope you’ve had a great week! This is a great place to live. My sister lives in Peoria IL and it was 24 below zero yesterday. No thanks!!

Last week we had a wonderful lesson on reconciliation. It is important for us to be able to forgive and not let anger or being offended control us. It can really hurt us and cause us to miss out on things we can never get back. I have had lots of experience with this. As a young man, all I did was look for faults in others. I felt like everyone was a hypocrite and since I grew up in Utah where 80 percent of the people were members of the church I decided the problem must be with the church. I did not want to be part of an organization where it seemed the members were phony. So I left and went down a different path. I moved out of Utah and left the Church behind. What I found was people are people. There are good ones and not so good ones. It had nothing to do with the church! I also found that those who offended me had moved on with their lives and I needed to as well. The church, on the other hand, teaches us to love those who offend us. Help those in need. Be kind to those around us. The church and the gospel of Jesus Christ are great and wonderful! Brethren please don’t let another person keep you from the blessings that come from living the gospel. Heavenly Father loves us. He wants to bless our lives but can only do so if we do what he asks.

Next time we will meet for EQ will be Feb 10th – 10am in the High Council Room. Everyone is wanted and invited.

We have a temple assignment on Feb 9th but it may get canceled. I have reached out to the temple and I am waiting for them to let me know. I’ll pass that along as soon as I hear something. The youth are going to the temple that day to do baptisms so feel free to join them and do a session while you’re there.

I am planning an EQ activity for Thursday, Feb 21. I am working out some details but it will be at the church that evening. I’ll have more to come soon hopefully.

Thanks for all your support! It really means a lot.

Sam Taylor
EQ President
