Stake Conference

Last week was Stake Conference. I heard there was an exceptional talk given at the leadership session. It’s too bad everyone couldn’t attend but I can give you a brief summary…. The talk was based on Matthew 22: 36-40 (https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/nt/matt/22.37%2c39?lang=eng). In these verses, Jesus is asked by a Pharisee which is the greatest commandment in the law and he gives his response. One of the things I was struck by while studying this is… at that time the Pharisees were so consumed with tradition and the way things had always been that when Christ brought a new and higher way to live they couldn’t understand and really struggled to accept it. Similarly, we have had changes in the way things are done and we have been given a higher way of living. The big question is how will we respond? Will we fight against the changes and say this cannot be from God, or will we ask our Heavenly Father to help us understand and change our hearts so we can fulfill the commandments given in these scriptures to love God and love our neighbors. My hope is that each of us will do our best to keep all of the commandments and pray to our Heavenly Father each day for guidance and understanding especially with the things that we struggle with.

5th Sunday Combined lesson

This week is the 5^th Sunday. We will all meet together in the Gym at 10am to be taught by our Ward leaders. We need help setting up chairs and barriers Sunday morning at 8:30am. If anyone is available to help it would be greatly appreciated.

BBQ/Pool Party

On Friday, July 19^th  at 6pm we will have a pool party/BBQ at Scott Stoddard's house. His address is 1070 24 Road. His house is back off 24 Road to the west behind the house that’s right on 24 Road. All members of the EQ, spouses, friends, and kids are invited. The EQ will provide the meat and we ask that if you come you bring a salad, chips, or dessert. This is just a time to hang out and get to know one another a little better. Everyone is welcome to swim or just hang out.

Change date for Ward Campout

I announced a Ward campout on August 9,10. I found out there is a youth temple trip on the 10^th so with everything being soo busy we are going to postpone the Ward campout till Sept/Oct and have a fall camp in the desert somewhere. More information to follow.

Fence Painting Service Opportunity

This Saturday, June 29^th we have a wonderful service opportunity for a great brother in our Quorum. Brother Jay Jefferson has agreed to let us help him paint the fence around his property. We will meet there at 7am. We need as much help as we can get so please come if possible. Bring whatever brushes and painting stuff you think would be helpful. I guess the paint they use is pretty expensive so they don’t want kids doing it because they’re worried paint will get wasted and it won’t get done right. So if you want to or need to bring kids we’ll need to keep a close eye on them.
