Weekly Note: Feb 26, 2021

 Brethren

I hope you are all doing well!

This is just a quick note to inform you about our EQ Zoom lesson this Sunday at 2pm.

February 28th: Elder’s Quorum: 2:00 - 3:00 PM. Please join the Zoom meeting here.  Our lesson will be taught by Brother Scott Stoddard. He will be using the talk by Elder Bednar "We Will Prove Them Herewith" https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2020/10/12bednar?lang=eng In this talk I like how he starts out with heading The Importance of Tests... I am a huge fan of competition and I always enjoy testing myself. It's a truly wonderful feeling to work really hard at something whether it is physical or mental and then see the fruits of that labor pay off. Here is a thought from Elder Bednar on the subject.... But periodic tests absolutely are essential to learning. An effective test helps us to compare what we need to know with what we actually know about a specific subject; it also provides a standard against which we can evaluate our learning and development.

Elder Bednar goes on to talk about how the Lord proves us to see where we will stand when confronted with obstacles in our lives. He wants to know how much of a burden he can place on us and how much we are willing to bear. As we are proven we become stronger and able to bear more. This leads to the Lord being able to use us more and more to continue the work. It also helps us gain confidence in ourselves and allows us to have the courage to take on things we may not be comfortable with or believe we can not do. I encourage you all to spend a little time studying this talk. Hopefully you will attend the meeting on Sunday and share your thoughts but if not at least you may gain some valuable insight you can use to help you in your life. I will leave you with this paragraph from the talk to possibly spark some interest in reading the rest of the talk...

Faithfulness is not foolishness or fanaticism. Rather, it is trusting and placing our confidence in Jesus Christ as our Savior, on His name, and in His promises. As we “press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men,”15 we are blessed with an eternal perspective and vision that stretches far beyond our limited mortal capacity. We will be enabled to “gather together, and stand in holy places”16 and “be not moved, until the day of the Lord come.”

I appreciate all you do in these difficult times. I know it's not easy. I struggle everyday with feelings of inadequacy and wondering if the things I do even matter. All I can say is I know Heavenly Father is mindful of us. He loves us. He wants us to follow the example of Jesus Christ and love one another, serve one another, and help each other. I am here for you in any struggle you may have. Please reach out and let's talk. Let's help each other!!
