About Mark Bunnell

Mark Bunnell

Mark was born in the great State of Wyoming but moved to the Gem State of Idaho at age 3. He grew up in St. Anthony, a suburb of Sugar City, close to Rexburg, ID.

Mark participated and apparently excelled in sports as youth. He played Quarterback while in High School. On one memorable occasion Mark recalls that he separated a shoulder tackling player. Mark was playing Quarterback at the time and a lucky opponent surprisingly intercepted his pass and raced toward the goal line. Not about to allow a pic 6 on one of his passes, Mark chased him down and tackled him at the 5 yd line. It was a costly stop however as Mark dislocated his shoulder - ouch.

Marked served a Mission for the Restored Church in upstate NY. He was able to help at the Hill Comoran pageant and even provided a pageant appearance. He and his companions taught cast members how to talk about gospel before and following the pageant experience.

Mark is an engineer (a good fit with his hard working and practical disposition) following education at Utah State University and a postgraduate degree at the University of Utah. He is a Highway Engineer, passionate about keeping the public moving safely and smoothly.

Mark met his wife Angela while living in Salt Lake City, Utah. He has worked in and the family lived in Chicago and Texas before coming to GJ. When Mark was offered the Grand Junction job, he and Angela felt impressed on a Temple visit that they should accept and move to move to Grand Junction. They are a delightful family and and have served faithfully in various callings. Angela callings have included Primary President and Activities days leader. Mark has served with distinction as our Cub Scout Leader and currently on the Stake High Council.

Mark and Angela have 5 wonderful kids that benefit from Mark's home engineering projects producing great playground equipment.

Mark is an avid cyclist and often cycles to work. He was recently heard to remark when asked to go on an early cycle trip that it was too flat and he needed some climbing. Lots of that to be had locally. He and Angela break out the kayaks where whey shepherded youth on a Colorado River float trip and got their whole family on the water last year for the Ward Campout on the Grand Mesa.
