Brethren
I hope you had a good week!
General Conference
Last Saturday and Sunday was General Conference. I hope you had a chance to watch, listen, or read the talks given. I think we all were waiting to hear some major announcement or policy change.
Maybe they did that as a ploy to get everyone to pay more attention!!! . Either way I hope you enjoyed it and were able to get something personal out of it. I know I did. I had a few things I was pondering about going in and I felt like every talk was in answer to my questions. Now we get to spend some time listening to, or reading the talks and taking what we need to better our lives. Also over the next 6 months we will be using these talks for our priesthood lessons. I encourage all of you to take the opportunity to listen, learn, and apply the things the spirit impresses upon you.
Missionary Work
Sunday Lesson
This Sunday we will meet at 10am in the High Council room. Bro Paul Foutz will be teaching using the talk “ Missionary Work: Sharing What is in Your Heart” by Elder Uchtdorf. https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2019/04/14uchtdorf?lang=eng . Please listen to or read this talk and come prepared to participate in the discussion.
Good, Better, Best
Please reach out to you families and friends that you minister to. Let me know if there and any needs or concerns. Also remember you can minister to anyone. You have an assignment but lets not limit ourselves to only those families. Work with each other to meet the temporal and spiritual needs of everyone.
There are so many good things we can be doing but as President Oaks said good is not enough… “ Some time ago I gave a talk titled “Good, Better, Best.” In that talk I said that “just because something is good is not a sufficient reason for doing it. The number of good things we can do far exceeds the time available to accomplish them. Some things are better than good, and these are the things that should command priority attention in our lives. … We have to forego some good things in order to choose others that are better or best.”1https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2019/04/35oaks?lang=eng Brethren we are being asked to step it up. The Lord is preparing us for his coming. Right now we are making decisions that determine how he can use us to help him. All we have to do is decide what part the Savior is going to play in our lives. Will he be top on the list, somewhere in the middle, or at the bottom. Only you can make that choice.
Thanks for all you do. Each one of you are an example to me in one way or another of how I can be better.
Sam Taylor
EQ President
