Weekly Note: May 17, 2020

Brethren

I hope you are all surviving and doing well! All my kids finished up school this week so summer is officially here, I guess. It doesn’t feel like it but… everything feels weird right now. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon and we can find something else to stress over ðŸ˜Š

The purpose of this email is really just to say thanks to all of you! I received reports from you about how the families in our ward are doing, and the needs that are being met during this difficult time. It’s really nice to be able to report back to our Bishop that the men of the priesthood are stepping up and making sure people are taken care of. I know he is also grateful for your service! More importantly I know Heavenly Father is smiling when he sees his children helping and loving one another. So again, thanks to all of you who helped with the Mitchell and Newton move, who helped deliver a gift to the mothers in our ward, and especially to those who have been their brothers and sisters keepers. THANK YOU!!

I still haven’t heard anything new on when we will be able to attend church meetings again. I would guess the Prophet and Quorum of the Twelve will be overly cautious with this type of thing so it may be awhile longer. Again that’s just my opinion. In the mean time please use this opportunity to strengthen the bonds with your families. Strengthen the relationships with those you minister to. Strengthen you relationship with Jesus Christ. Remember the Gospel and the Church are not a building on G road. The Gospel and the Church are inside each of us and are always there for us to use. That being said I’m excited to get back to that old brick church house and awkwardly interact with each and every one of you!

In my studying this week I came across something that I feel will, if it has not already, become important in our lives. I was reading in Matthew chapter 12 and Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees about how a house divided can not stand. See vs 25 And Jesus knew their athoughts, and said unto them, Every bkingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: This struck me because I see so much of that going on right now. I see family members and friends arguing with each other about politics and the economy. I see Satan causing these divisions in us, over things that really are not as big of a problem as we make them out to be. I worry that we are more concerned about being right, and telling others how wrong they are, that we forget about the things Christ taught. He said to love our enemies. He said to show kindness to everyone. He said to give of all we are blessed with to help each other. He showed us how Charity( the greatest of all gifts) works. We really need to learn of him and do our best to walk in his footsteps. I know it’s difficult. I struggle with the same things you do. My first reaction to people I think are doing things the wrong way is to say how stupid they are and call them names. I know this is not the way. It only leads to contention and anger. That is exactly what Satan wants. He wants families torn apart and friendships ruined…for what?? So I could prove someone wrong about what some doctor may or may not have said on TV!! Please don’t fall for the trap. It is easy to point out faults and wrongdoing. It is hard to overlook those things and see the good in people we don’t agree with. I would ask all of you to work on this as I know I will. The Savior is there for us. He loves us and wants to help us. Let him help you. I would incline all of you to read this starting in vs 22 through the end of the chapter. Pray and ponder about those things you read. Let the spirit take you down a spiritual rabbit hole and see what it can teach you.

Thanks again for all you do. I am always available to you if you need anything.
