Say Hello to Mark Griffin

Mark & Jolie Griffin and family
Mark Griffin was born in in 1971 in Los Angeles California but grew up in Sacramento where his family moved when he was young. On reaching mission age, Mark served a two year mission to Dusseldorf Germany. After missionary service Mark attended Stanford University in Palo Alto California. While at Stanford, Mark met Jolie and they were later married. Early in marriage they tutored kids and lived in a servants quarters in Palo Alto to get by.

After Stanford, the Griffin's moved to New York City where Mark had been accepted to Medical School. Besides lots of studying, Mark also played some basketball and chess.

On completion of medical school, the family moved to Iowa City Iowa for Mark to work in a  residency in ENT (Ear/Nose/Throat). Residency was a busy time and Mark recalls that he “had no life outside of work” as he worked 130 hours a week. Sometimes he would need to weave his car through all of the football tailgaters on Iowa Hawkeye game day in Iowa City while he tried to make it into the hospital. "Not an enjoyable time" according to Mark.

The Griffins moved to Grand Junction in 2004 because there was an opening for a ENT surgeon and they thought Grand Junction would be a nice place to live. Mark and Jolie are enjoying raising their 4 children and love it in Grand Junction. Their oldest daughter is leaving soon for college, also Stanford University.

Mark likes all kinds of outdoor activities such as biking, hiking and triathalons. He is currently serving as a Stake Clerk in the Grand Junction Colorado West Stake. Jolie has a very busy schedule and serves as our wonderful Primary President.
