Lives in order
Last week we were taught by Bro Larsen about getting our lives in order and living in a way where we a prepared to meet God. He did a great job teaching and the input from those who attended was appreciated. I hope and pray we will take the time to ponder how we are living our lives and what things we can do to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. Each of us has the ability to speak to our Heavenly Father and receive inspiration on what we should do. It’s following those promptings along with keeping and maintaining sacred covenants that will accomplish this.
Bishop Burton admonished Sister Gustavson and I last night about being willing to act on feelings and promptings even if we are worried we might offend. As long as we are following the spirit and acting out of love we will never be wrong. I give you the same charge he gave us. I know it’s difficult but I promise you the more you act the easier it becomes and the more you will be blessed.
We have some exciting things coming up so here we go…
Upcoming
Saturday 22nd – Temple assignment – Endowment 10:15am or 1pm – if you want go and need a ride let me know and we’ll get you one.
Sunday Sept 23rd – We will have a ministering discussion led by Bro Foutz. He will be focusing on how we can minister to our own families. Please come to participate and share your thoughts and feelings.
Sunday Oct 30th – We will combine with the Relief Society and be taught by a member of the Stake Presidency.
Saturday Oct 6th and Sunday Oct 7th – General Conference – general sessions are from 10am – 12pm and 2pm – 4pm both days. There will be no priesthood session this time. There are multiple ways to view conference… Streaming online at https://www.lds.org/?lang=eng, watch on BYU TV, or watch at the Stake Center. Please prayerfully consider questions you have or something you want to get out of this conference. It is such a great thing to be able to hear the words of the prophets in our day!
Wednesday Oct 10th – Fall Social – 6pm at the church. Everyone is invited so tell your friends, neighbors, and anyone else you want. There will be dinner, games, and a great chance to meet new people.
Saturday Oct 13th – Golf outing – We are putting together and EQ golf tournament. I have invited GJ 1st ward and Canyonview ward to join us. We will play Saturday morning at Adobe Creek in Fruita. Please let Kevin McCarrel know if you want to attend. The cutoff to sign up is Friday Oct 5th so we can make tee times. You will be responsible for your own greens fees. I think we’ll just play 9 holes to keep the cost and time down unless I get feedback that everyone wants to play 18. It’s roughly $20 for nine holes, $10 for a cart if you don’t want to walk. If you want to play but can’t afford the fees please let me know. We don’t want anyone left out that would like to play.
Just a few things way out in the future to keep in mind…
Nov 10th – Stake Conference
Nov 17th – Turkey Shoot – more information will be coming
Dec 8th – Ward Breakfast Christmas Party
Brethren we the EQ Presidency love you and are appreciative of your efforts! We want you to know that.
Thanks
Sam Taylor
EQ President
