Brethren
I hope you had a nice Labor Day holiday. I know I can’t think of a better way to start the week than with a day off!
Quarterly Elders Quorum Temple Trip
On Sunday we got to know a little more about Scott Stoddard. He is such a great person. I urge all of you to get to know him. To read a little about him go to http://bookcliffeq.blogspot. com/. We also had a great council meeting on Sunday led by Bishop Holt. We discussed Family History and Temple Attendance. Bishop had us take a survey which is available on http://bookcliffeq.blogspot. com/ . The survey gave us an opportunity to discuss what we think about doing family history work and what ways we prefer to attend the temple. As a result of the survey I have decided to start a quarterly Elders Quorum Temple Trip. As part of this I would like all who are going to try and bring a family name. This is not a requirement to go but I think it would make the experience more meaningful if we did some research about one of our ancestors and then did their temple work. So start thinking about it and there will be more information coming soon.
This week we will be privileged to be taught by Bro McCoy. He will be using a talk given by Elder Bednar titled “ Meek and Lowly of Heart” https://www.lds.org/general- conference/2018/04/meek-and- lowly-of-heart?lang=eng . Please take a few minutes and study this talk.
We have a couple activities coming up….
Cross Orchards Service Project
Saturday Sept 15th – Service project at Cross Orchards Museum of Western Colorado – they have a shed that needs to be cleaned out and then fixed up a little. They want to turn it into a place to do wood working. Any and all are welcome to help with this. We will go from 8am – Noon. Please let Kevin McCarrel know if you can help. This is a really neat place in our community and if you haven’t stopped by you should definitely take your family over and check it out. https://museumofwesternco.com/ cross-orchards/
Temple Assignment
Saturday Sept 22nd – Temple Assignment – 10:15am or 1pm endowment session. This is an assignment from the Stake. Please let Bro Dave Hawks know if you can make this so he can give numbers to the Temple.
I want to close out by saying thanks to all of you for your patience with me and the presidency. These changes have been a learning curve for all of us and I can tell you I felt extremely inadequate for this calling. That being said everyone has been so supportive and complementary it has made all the difference. I still wonder…( why me??) but this goes to prove the Lord can get his work accomplished with the weak and simple. Thanks again! I really have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you.
Sam Taylor
EQ President
